Employee retention is always an important aspect for financial stability in any corporation, especially these days with the economy being what it is. Finding and retaining quality staff is no small endeavor and while giving financial consideration to an employee who has done a great job is not always an option, giving recognition is. Most employees will tell you that while getting more money is great they understand that is not always an option so just getting a little positive feedback goes a long way to keeping them happy. It is said that no company ever lost a happy employee.
One way to recognize employees for their efforts is to present them with an award plaque that highlights their achievement. Many companies have an employee recognition program that is conducted on a monthly or quarterly cycle. Employees will work hard to achieve the levels that are required for the program. Having your name on the award plaque is an important achievement for many.
In this era of the Internet it has never been easier to select, customize and order an award plaque. If you search for an award plaque you will be overwhelmed with responses. Select one site and see what they offer. The award plaque should be something that is representative of the efforts of the employee or employees that did the work so take a little time and shop around. Once you have viewed a couple of different makers of award plaques you will have a good idea of what is available from them. If you do not see what you are looking for or are looking for something customized to your own company logo or design shape many manufactures are willing to do such a task. Completely customized shapes will cost more but will also provide the employee with an award that is meaningful.
Once you have selected the award plaque and the supplier of the plaque you will need to decide what the award should say. The message should be specific and identify the employee or group by name. Including a date is always a good idea. The date not only makes the award that much more specific to the employee but also creates an environment where the employee would like to refresh the recognition and therefore works harder to get another award plaque.
Being able to achieve multiple award plaques is something that every employee reward program should incorporate. A lot of research has been done on the psychology of rewards and the single best reward schedule is one that is varied in frequency. If the subject can not determine when the reward is coming the behavior tends to be at its best all of the time. Regardless of the program take some time and recognize your employees for their hard work and dedication. Give award plaques often!
