Everyone who drives for a Chicago courier company will have one thing in common. They all have to be certified as being in compliance with DOT health laws. This simply means that they have to be physically capable of operating a motor vehicle. Obviously, this determination will be made by a licensed physician. No one is permitted to drive for a courier service in the Chicago area without this certification. Obviously, this is designed to ensure their safety, as well as the safety of everyone else on the road. This is absolutely necessary because of the number of hours these people spend on the road every day. This physical examination will cover everything that could relate to someone not being able to safely operate a vehicle. The first thing is to make sure they have all appendages that would be necessary for driving, such as legs, arms, hands and feet. It is possible, however, for someone who has lost an appendage to pass this part of the exam if they can demonstrate that they have been certified as being able to operate a vehicle. Obviously, this exam would also cover a number of other medical issues. A person may be disqualified if they are found to be a high risk of heart or respiration problems. Both of these conditions could cause an attack that would put their lives at risk while driving, not to mention the lives of other motorists. Seizures would also be cause for disqualification, along with various other conditions that could affect the ability to drive. Overall, the exam is quite thorough. There are many benefits to having the peace of mind in knowing that only the healthiest people are behind the wheels of the delivery vehicles. As a customer, you can be quite confident that your shipment will arrive when it is supposed to. Also, as a fellow motorist, you can be sure that there is minimal risk of one of these courier drivers having some kind of health related issues that could put you and your family at risk. This is something that not many people realize, but it is comforting to know that these courier services do not put just anyone behind the wheel of their trucks and vans. This is also helpful to know if you are looking to gain employment with one of these courier companies. If you know you have some condition that could possibly disqualify you, you won't have to waste your time going through the process.
